In 2021, the European laws for data protection (known as GDPR) will have entered their third year in execution. Despite this fact, we see an increase in fines for non compliance with these laws.

Therefore, these laws pose major challenges for compliance managers in terms of understanding the obligations to adhere to.

This specialized seminar comes within a series of seminars that help in better management of the risks faced by Arab financial entities.

• Explore the definitions and terminology of general rules for the protection of personal data.
• Delve into the details of European law, understand, and analyze the extent to which the articles of this law apply to Europeans as well as non-Europeans, especially in the banking sector.

CRS: COMMON REPORTING STANDARD

الخلفية:

Financial taxes are one of the most important sources of financing for countries in the world, regardless of the technical differences between one country and another. Hence the importance of exchanging tax information between countries to prevent tax evasion through the international standard for the automatic exchange of tax data.

Automatic exchange of information for tax purposes requires the standardization of technical reporting formats so that information can be captured, exchanged and processed quickly and efficiently in a cost-effective manner.

In addition, secure and compatible methods of transmission and encryption of the data must be in place.
All of this puts some challenges on the Financial Institutions’ Compliance Program.

Mr. Barkho has more than 20 years of experience in the world of banking and informatics, as he was recently the head of Compliance Department in an esteemed Lebanese bank.

Mr. Barkho is currently an active member in Acumen s.a.l Information consulting and solutions in Lebanon in the financial, commercial and public sectors in terms of the role it plays as a business consultant, design solutions, especially in compliance, anti-money laundering and terrorist financing.

Mr. Barkho Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Informatics and holds a University degree in Banking & Business Consulting IT Solutions and CAMS Certificate from LAU – Lebanon.
