BACKGROUND:
One of the main roles of the Central Banks is regulating and developing the payment systems, as well as setting safety and efficiency standards for the various kinds of payments, and the development of money and financial markets. Customers have no safer option than the digital and electronic transactions to execute their financial transactions. Commercial banks and financial institutions have to focus on digital transformation programs; indeed, Banks are looking more into customer digital necessities as well as mobile wallets.
OBJECTIVES:
This Forum aims at describing the developments in payment systems and provides most recent progress related to regional cross border payments This Forum also aims at discussing the new trends in electronic and digital payments including the Lebanese experience in modernizing its payment systems. The Forum will also focus on the Arab Regional and egyptian payment system (BUNA) that went live recently,& the latest directions of the bank of international settlements (BIS) in this regard.
